Dr. Sharmela Sondhi, MBBS, MS (ENT), is a Consultant ENT Surgeon with over 25 years of international experience and a rich, diverse career spanning tertiary care hospitals run by Ministries of Health in India, Maldives, Seychelles and the Middle East, prestigious research institutions, premier universities, and private medical organizations. Dr. Sondhi has deep expertise in patient-centered healthcare, having specialized in cutting-edge practices in her field, with qualifications in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotic Surgery, and training with mentors such as Prof. Claudio Vicini in Italy (SDBS and trans-oral robotic-assisted surgery), Dr. Kenny Pang (sleep medicine and surgery) in Singapore, Dr. Kirtane in India (cochlear implants), in addition to robotic surgery training in the USA, TORS in Germany and ENT lasers in Belgium. Dr. Sondhi has contributed to several publications in esteemed Indian journals, has co-authored a chapter in a book in her specialization, and presented a research concept proposal on vascular and cellular targeted, fluorescence-guided, robotic, laser photodynamic therapy for head and neck cancer, at Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Sondhi has played pivotal roles in promoting gender diversity and empowerment by co-founding the WAOI (Women’s Association of Otolaryngologists of India) and has been an advisor to the Indian Medical Association (IMA) National Committee.
